Electricity ⚡️ @the_symone by @elirezkallah on the cover of plastik magazine.
Symone is the embodiment of camp, from her head-turning drag race looks, to gracing the MET ball and Madonna’s latest documentary, she’s been killing it.
Something she hasn’t done? Swing from a chandelier:
“the only thing I could keep thinking [while hanging from the ceiling] was “this is for the shot. GET THE SHOT!” I’ve never done anything like that before, but honey I gots me a story to tell now.”

BTS of “Electricity” below!
We had to figure out a way to use a rock climbing harness to rig Symone to the metal ceiling grids the perfect height in front of the draping.
The goal was to make it look like she’s hanging by a chandelier of hair. (mock-up by @Plastik)
A whole lot of fabric and draping. Big thanks to Hisham Dawoud and Nancy the Girl for their help!
In order to achieve this we had to create a faux fabric ceiling panel to which we could affix the top of her wig in order to keep it upright.
“Queen of Coney Island”
This shot required us to load in 1000lbs of sand into the studio to create a faux beach.

“The winner of Season 13 of Rupaul’s drag race @the_symone ‘s looks and performances were sensational throughout the show, most notably, when she wore the gorgeous white dress in episode 9 with “Say their names” emblazoned on the back. Here she is posing as the goddess Libertas, Lady Liberty; a queer icon and a force to be reckoned with.”
